Norway, Awarded Coronation Medal (1906)
Norway, silver medal from the coronation of King Haakon VII and Queen Maud in 1906, awarded Artillery Captain Roald Skancke (22 December 1876 – 14 May 1932). Skancke was the son of Pharmacist Carl Peter Bergsten Skancke (1842–96) and Marie Nielsine Magnhilde Moe. In 1903 he got married to Ragna Wettergreen, a well known actress from the Norwegian National Theatre.
The medal was designed by painter Eilif Pettersen and the dies were engraved by Ivar Throndsen. Very Fine condition. This is an extremely rare medal, taking the inscription into consideration. Støren & Holst 284; Hallberg II 4; Barac 42. 49 mm x 29,5 mm.
